I thought it'd be cool if we talked about what other games we're playing besides World's Dawn!
I'm currently re-playing Kingdom Hearts in anticipation for III to come....

Hi! I haven't had much time even for World's Dawn, sadly! I currently play (on and off) NeverWinter and Puzzle Pirates. Both are MMORPGs. Kingdom Hearts is awesome! I played it with my husband a while back and we loved it!

I don't often play large games, simply because of time and money constraints, so I've recently checked out the NanoReno games, and there have been some really nice ones this year. I particularly liked Blind Griffin, as it has a different main character, and its a bit of edutainment since I learned all these fancy '20s slang terms. Yay. (Copecetic!)
Otherwise I'm sad and play sims 3 when I'm bored. Mostly with lots of NRaas, so I don't need the CDs. Hahaha. ^^;

Neverwinter is a pc MMORPG based on Dungeons and Dragons. I started playing it with my husband and some of our friends and it was really fun! imageshack.com/a/img908/9936/8yCN6F.jpgPuzzle Pirates is a pc 2D MMORPG based on puzzles. Because its a 2D game, no one gives it a second look, even less considers it a MMORPG, but it sure is! There's lot of things to do, you can join a crew, a flag, get your own ship and pillage other ships. And all tasks are actually puzzles. imageshack.com/a/img537/1146/bdG1zG.png

I also do a lot of testing on the choice of games forums- they're interactive stories, all very awesome, but you have to pay to play most, so I actively play through the WIP forums, because, money. Boo.
If you're interested, I suggest Guenevere- its very different in the sense that you can't choose your character by gender or name, or even appearance (though you can image I guess), but you have a lot of options in her personality, and you play through the Arthurian legend. Very devoted writer, though it takes its time to update (but thats okay, everyone chats on the posting board).
My only complaint is you get addicted, want to go somewhere else, then are intensely disappointed in the drop in writing quality. JimD does some good stuff too- lots of zombies and stuff.
In a similar vein chooseyourstory.com is very much similar to CoG, with my favourites being a story of life and death (I'll give anyone a walkthrough if they ask if you want to play and get stuck), and good bye my future self (/past self, I dunno) which is very sad but cute.

Its good to know I'm not the only sadistic killer in that game >_>
I'm gonna check those out--I love interactive stories, and I'm a sucker for text-based ones especially (excuse me, my author is showing).
Guienevere (?err?) sounds specially awesome!
Have you ever played any otome games? I know some of them are...different, but there are some good ones out there! My personal favorites are Magical Diary - Horse Hall by Hanako Games and Lucky Rabbit Reflex by Super63. They're both a bit pricey (I know Magical Diary is 20 and I haven't checked the price lately for Lucky Rabbit Reflex) I was only able to play because a friend bought them and showed them both to me. (I'm in college--I understand the money crunch)

Hahah. As long as there's more to your gameplay than that. I just tend to get annoyed by skill building the most- I start a new family, and they have no skills whatsoever. I get annoyed, like, honestly, so you achieve and try to do nothing in your childhood years? You should have some skilling for the career you want to go to, basic handiness and cooking, and something for a hobby. So I use a cheat to make them gain skills, but once you start the cheating spiral, you can never go back......
Guenevere (spelled that way, yes I know) is awesome, you might see me in the community chat on the thing, think I'm also mim there. It's really, really good, and an interactive process with the author too. Think your version of Guen should have a different personality response, and enough people agree with you- its put in. The writer also frequently chats with her fans, and Lancelot has affectionately been dubbed 'Barbie'. We're practically a cult, haha. (Also, my cat is Sir Fluffikins the Third. No stealing his name)
Um, JimD does zombie exodus, and this new zombie one too. Really interesting as he tries his best for 'realism' (as real as zombies can get, haha) and a couple other writers are good, you just gotta look about for them.
Otome games wise...NanoReno all the way. I can't buy stuff because I am strapped for cash, but also due to me living outside us/uk and trusting any money online to something that isn't in the country is really suspect.
So, games wise I have enjoyed Blind Griffin, Nachtigal (really good like Blind Griffin), Autumns Journey, GUARDIANS (psychological), One Night at Amphora (its different. Not for everyone, about a connection you make in one night. Some silly humor), and Where Ages Go (which is also different, but not like the previous one). I also enjoyed Cute Demon Crashers which isn't a completed game yet but is VERY adult (but cute, and sweet and funny, and is about acceptance and feeling comfortable and blah. Can't wait for full version).
Otherwise, I troll on NanoReno and Ren'Py submissions. And money crunch, yes, all my sims games are achieved through loading a friends onto my pc, updating my mods folder, and putting in the NRaas CD mod, so I don't need the CDs....yay. ^^;

Ahh, no. I tend to play legacy scenarios on Sims. I mean that killing thing in the lightest sense ;D
Read Guenevere for an hour today before I got into my classwork--it's really interesting so far! Just finished with the segment with the fireworks on top of Merlin's tower.
I'm so torn over it already...I want to play by the rules (gosh-darn moral compass)...but Lancelot... And Arthur's not a bad catch either, now that I think about it.

Ooh yay, a fellow Arthurian convert with whom I can gush over stuff! DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT. Because then you play again to create different Guens. I have...3. One: Tactics first, healing second, relatively nice, though she gets annoyed with Arthur easily. Loves Arthur very much, cares about Lance and Morgana, tries not to lead either on. Guen 2 is fighting then dark magic, she's all for Lance, she's got a rather dry sense of humor, and wants to have power. She thinks of Arthur as a friend, meh about Morgana. Guen 3 is for Morgana, and she hates all men. It's a lol. Lezzie all the way, complete meanie to Arthur and Lancelot. She's my crack! to play around with. - Legacies? Those take forever, did them once before, made a blonde lady who was a tomb raider, she got married to some French guy, they had kids, were rich thanks to hubbys nectary. One kid turned singer, another magician, the other an evil criminal. Two of the three had kids, and continued for a while, until the entire town was full of the same surname, and no-one could marry each other, so then I was sad.

Just realized I've been going about this all the wrong way. Duh. SAVE FILES. (wow)
I kept replaying through the first couple chapters just to see what I could or couldn't change depending on what I did. But now...there needs to be multiples.
~~~
I'm pretty patient when it comes to legacies. And I turn keep aging on and let them move to new towns every so often. My furtherst is...fifteen generations I think? Can't remember right now.
Ooh, yes, and sometimes there are certain things that can happen if you have specific things put together, it's fabulous, haha.
(Example: Healing plus manipulative Guen in mid 2nd chapter. No spoilers, but, you'll know it when you see it.)
- Ah, I'm not patient at all in sims. I get so bored, then groan and want to cheat, and have to take a little break, and tend to go on 9gag for a bit, or watch youtube videos.
(Finally back. Internet went out Tuesday and just got restored this morning.)
I really like things like that though. If a writer puts in all these little freebies to make a story worth reading over again, they know whats up <3
~~~
Sometimes I get bored pretty quick. Back when I only had the vanilla game I would only play for about 40ish minutes before I would have to make things more interesting. But then I got Pets--which made the game SO. MUCH. BETTER.

Latest game I'm gushing over:
Aloners by Sonnet009
OH MY WORD YOU GAIZ, ALLTHEFEELZZEIEFIRVINCIEUXNEURRERUIBE
Ehem.
Anywho, 'tis fabulous for many reasons:
You have one choice in romantic option (straight, sorry peeps, I know, fem!Trash would make me squee too, but male Trash needs the maleness). You don't need a walkthrough. It isn't a 'pick the right answer to make X like you, if you don't smell the daisies, you DIE' game. It's a 'this is a realistic scenario where a man can fall in love with multiple personalities, and not a complete imitation of his own'.
So, your character personality is yours to choose, as is her modesty, and her bad-assery. It's totes adorbs, totes cereal guys.
Worth the 2 hour play through. (Worth the subsequent playing it three times a day afterwards)
Basic, non-spoiler story line: Woman wakes up to find last man on earth pointing a gun at her head.
OMGGGGGG SOOOOO GOOODDDD *fangasm*
-
In another, fangasm but not game related arc, who here is into anime/manga of any kind? While not in an area where I can actively reach it, I manage, and I really enjoy Kuroshitsuji and Attack on Titan. Anyone else?
