While I get that the anime style artwork means everybody is 'pretty' - anyone else wish that the farmgirls that are supposed to be fit and healthy were a little less dainty in the artwork?
Seriously, the first farmer I made spent a big chunk of her time mining, farming and playing lockball - girl's got guns, is what I'm saying - but anime art makes everyone look like they could be snapped like a twig.
I'm not saying turn all the active-type characters into bodybuilders or anything, just flesh em out in the character art a teensy bit...please.

Oh hey, another suggestion with the art - the sprite clothes. I want a little yellow raincoat and rainhat for wet weather. It's weird running around in a singlet!

Rain clothes would be so cute! *.*

Even a drizabone(brand of heavy leather coat) and an akubra(leather hat) would work - they're a farmer after all!

Why do you want the artist to change it so badly? I know your complaining about them not being beefy enough, but that's kinda rude. (Truthfully not all girls are beefy when working at a farm)
Super muscular isn't something you want, but you want the girls adjusted? I hope it's not too far that your thinking of truthfully. An example/picture would be better to describe what you mean.
Maybe sketch something, if you can't find an example in anime style.

Hmm...hard to describe. The only example I can think off the top of my head is webcomic art - when artists go over their earlier work, sometimes from years ago, and improve on it. I'll see if I can find an anime example.
Had a bit of a long day, so may not be today.

Oh hey, example of a non-dainty anime character - Misato from Neon Genesis - noone would call her dainty...at least not to her face and expect to survive the reprisal. Or Winry from FMA?
In any case, I'm offering an opinion - whether it's rude or not is fairly subjective - and am not going to be offended in the slightest if that opinion is ignored by the artist. They're going to be paid to make things look shiny, and what kind of shiny is up to Sagitar.
My feelings are thus: cookie-cutter RPGMaker titles are a dime a dozen - this one has already set itself apart with the story and the dialogue, so why not art as well?

I agree with expectorate there. As a girl who grew up in a farming community, and in a family as an only child to a man who was used to rough and tumble, I was very much treated like a boy and expected to do the same work load. Mowing the lawn, trimming weeds, harvesting, pruning, taking care of the animals, that sort of thing really does impact, and I grew up in a community, not on a farm itself- it would be even more accentuated for these girls (maybe not Brynn). I'm particularly broad shouldered for a girl, and haven't come across a person I can't pick up. (So that's around 100kgs I can pick up. Not dead weighting) So, yes, dainty girls are cute and lovely to look at. But aren't we supposed to see beyond the character? We want the sun burn, the splinters, and, yes, the muscles. (And muscular women don't always look bad, she wouldn't be over the top, nor a body builder) BUT, it is up to the artist. Just backing up expectorate, I agree with her.

If the artist wants to adjust the arms like this sorta, Misato from Neon Genesis <---Link to picture) then it's up to her/him. As long as your just suggesting something, then I don't consider it rude. I just had some experiences with that in my artwork, and truthfully it's hard work drawing anime characters. It may look easy to some, but it's not as easy as it seems. It takes time to redraw/sketch and hopefully draw something that might look okay to others. The arms and hands were my weakest part truthfully, but I hope the artist doesn't have a hard time with that too. That part is the most frustrating thing to draw, specially the muscles. No matter how small adjusting it needs, it's I pain and I know that feeling.

Very interesting topic! Having the Kickstarter funded and being able to actually design the characters from scratch, it's great to gather ideas on what they should look like and how they should differ from everyone else. Keep the ideas coming -- I promise I'm reading them all and taking them under consideration for the final game!
